‘They Killed Two of Our Colleagues to Pressure the Government’ – Rescued Oyo Principal on 56-Day Kidnap Ordeal
The principal of Community High School in Ahoro-Esiele, Oyo State, has described the traumatic 56-day ordeal she, teachers and pupils endured in captivity. She said the kidnappers executed two of their colleagues – Michael on the second day and Deacon on the first Sunday in June – to force the government to meet their demands. The survivors were subjected to constant fear and psychological intimidation. During the handover of the rescued victims to Governor Seyi Makinde by the Nigerian Army, she thanked President Tinubu, the governor, security agencies and Nigerians whose prayers sustained them. The principal acknowledged the lasting emotional scars but expressed hope that healing will come with time. This update was shared on social media by those following the rescue operation.
