Chidimma Adetshina’s Deportation Case Continues in Cape Town Court

Chidimma Adetshina’s Deportation Case Continues in Cape Town Court

Miss Universe Nigeria titleholder and former Miss South Africa finalist Chidimma Adetshina has been accused by South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs of living in the country without legal status. Court papers allege she and her young son entered on fraudulent documents and did not hold a valid visa. An immigration officer’s affidavit describes system checks and interviews that confirmed her status as an “illegal foreigner” under the Immigration Act. Home Affairs Minister Leon Schreiber previously dismissed her appeal in March, citing her failure to respond to cancellation notices and alleged use of a false bank statement. Her son’s application was also rejected since his status depends on hers. After her June 9 court appearance in Cape Town, Adetshina was released on warning and ordered to remain at her arrest address. Her next hearing is set for mid-July, with the Department pursuing formal deportation procedures.

Absolutely, it's tough – her bookings might dry up while her little one needs stability right now.

It's surprising the Department of Home Affairs waited this long to challenge her status, given her public profile and past pageant history.

I get that rules matter, but deporting someone over paperwork when she's a known figure feels excessively harsh.

She and her legal team must prioritize securing valid residency documents before the next hearing to strengthen her defense.
