Paul Onuachu Rejects German and Saudi Offers to Stay at Trabzonspor

Paul Onuachu Rejects German and Saudi Offers to Stay at Trabzonspor

Speculation around Paul Onuachu’s next move has grown in recent weeks. Clubs from Germany and the Saudi Pro League showed strong interest, but the Super Eagles striker has made his choice. Despite tempting bids from VfL Wolfsburg, Werder Bremen and Al Ahli, Onuachu has opted to honour his contract with Trabzonspor. The 31-year-old turned down a package that could have quadrupled his wages, underlining his loyalty. Onuachu finished last season with 23 goals in 27 games in Turkey. His aerial power and clinical finishing earned him a spot at the top of the Süper Lig Golden Boot race. Under contract until 2028, he and Trabzonspor are now focused on silverware. The Nigerian forward remains committed to leading their title drive.

Absolutely, choosing stability and a clear role at Trabzonspor likely shaped his decision.

I'm not convinced it was purely competitive appeal; perhaps personal comfort or project stability influenced him more.

It's interesting how he bypassed both Werder Bremen and VfL Wolfsburg, despite Germany's reputation for nurturing strikers.

Choosing Trabzonspor over Al Ahli seems like a step backward for his career growth at this stage.

At this point he needs regular starts and strong team tactics, no be small thing for a striker's form.
