Ghana held England to a 0-0 draw in their FIFA World Cup 2026 Group L opener in Boston. Carlos Queiroz’s side defended brilliantly under constant pressure. Declan Rice struck the crossbar with England’s best first-half chance. After the break, Elliot Anderson and Anthony Gordon missed gilt-edged opportunities. Ghana keeper Benjamin Asare denied Harry Kane with a superb save. Abdul Fatawu also went close late on, only for teammates to clear his rebound off the line. England returned fire through a Reece James cross and Nico O’Reilly header, then Kane’s effort flew over, but neither could find the net.
