Senegal’s Young Lions Clinch Second U17 AFCON Title in Three Years
Senegal’s U17 side lifted the Africa Cup of Nations trophy again after a tense final in Rabat, Morocco. They drew 1-1 with Tanzania before holding their nerve in a 4-2 penalty shootout victory. Ibrahima Dione equalised in the 64th minute after Tanzania’s early lead. Neither side could break the deadlock in extra time, but Senegal converted every spot kick while Tanzania missed two. This win under coach Lamine Sané marks Senegal’s second U17 continental crown since 2023. Tanzania also impressed by defeating Algeria and Egypt on penalties to reach their first final. Both teams had already booked their places at the FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar.
