Why Tinubu’s Policies Aren’t the Real Issue for Many Opponents

Why Tinubu’s Policies Aren’t the Real Issue for Many Opponents

I’ve noticed that many online supporters of opposition figures would rather tolerate President Tinubu until 2031 than back any other candidate—even as they condemn his policies day and night. This reveals their quarrel isn’t truly with his governance or ideas, but with the fact that their preferred politician isn’t in power. They’d defend the same policies if they came under the banner of their own candidate. If you’re willing to endure four more years of policies you claim to hate just to deny another opposition figure victory, then Tinubu’s policies aren’t your real problem. His very occupancy of the office is. Acceptance of his second term might be more liberating than endless infighting.

Are online critics more focused on opposing Tinubu personally than addressing policy substance, or is there more behind their stance?

I'm not convinced every critic secretly prefers another candidate; some may genuinely dislike these policies and fear their real-world impact.

Opponents could list specific policy failures and suggest realistic alternatives to shift debate from personalities to tangible governance outcomes.
