King Charles Declares ‘Jollof Is Only the Best’ at Windsor State Banquet for President Tinubu
On March 18, the British Royal Family hosted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady Remi Tinubu at a State Banquet in St. George’s Hall, Windsor Castle. The tables were set with seasonal flowers from Buckingham Palace gardens and The Savill Garden. Guests included the Prince and Princess of Wales, Princess Anne, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. In his speech, King Charles recalled hosting young Nigerians for jollof rice and tea. He joked, “the jollof is only the best; Nigerian of course,” prompting laughter and applause from President Tinubu. This visit marks the first Nigerian State Visit since 1989 and the first time a Muslim head of state has been welcomed by the monarch during Ramadan. Videos and photos from the banquet capture the historic moment.
