Remembering Michael Ndika, Niniola’s Manager and Afro-House Trailblazer
Michael Ndika, founder of NaijaReview and longtime manager of Afro-house star Niniola, passed away this week. Known affectionately as Big Mike, he built one of Nigeria’s earliest platforms for promoting Afro-house and contemporary African music. Before venturing into entertainment, he worked in technology as a systems engineer and Head of IT. In 2011, he launched NaijaReview as a music blog and guided its growth into a multimedia outlet that shaped digital music promotion in Nigeria. He also co-founded an education-focused NGO, reflecting his commitment to social causes beyond music. Ndika began managing Niniola in 2014, combining his strict business approach with unwavering support. The two later married, keeping their relationship private for 13 years. Industry colleagues remember him as a humble pioneer whose work behind the scenes paved the way for today’s Nigerian music boom. Our thoughts are with his family and the entertainment community he helped build.
