Man Arrested for Facebook Death Threats Against President Trump
Andrew Emerald, 45, was arrested in Massachusetts after allegedly posting eight death threats against President Donald Trump on Facebook. Authorities say he wrote that Trump would be dead by 2026 or that he would hunt him down and burn Mar-a-Lago to the ground. When FBI agents served a warrant at Emerald’s home, he initially refused to come out and brandished a long metal sword. He later surrendered peacefully after a crisis negotiator intervened. Investigators recovered several swords and blades during the arrest. Emerald has been indicted on eight counts of interstate transmission of threatening communications, each carrying up to five years in prison. Similar social media threats in other cases have led to significant jail sentences for defendants.
