Former Officer Arraigned for Allegedly Defiling Six-Year-Old Girl in Ondo

A former police officer has appeared before an Akure Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ondo State on a charge of defiling a six-year-old girl. The prosecutor said the accused, 25, allegedly committed the offence on November 30 in Ode Community, Isingbo. He was arraigned on one count under Section 22 of the Ondo State Criminal Code. The defendant pleaded not guilty and sought bail on health grounds. His lawyer argued that he is presumed innocent and posed no flight risk. The court granted bail of ₦750,000 with one surety of equal sum. The surety must reside in the court’s jurisdiction and own property in Akure. The matter has been adjourned to April 30 for further hearing.
