Jigawa Windstorm Kills Seven, Displaces Over 5,400 Residents
A severe windstorm with heavy rainfall killed seven people and affected 5,403 residents in Jigawa State. The state’s emergency management agency confirmed the casualties and widespread damage. The disaster hit 120 communities across 13 local government areas. It damaged 47 public schools, three health centres and two police stations. Affected LGAs include Dutse, Birnin Kudu, Gumel and several others. Relief items have been distributed to those impacted. The agency is calling on philanthropists, corporate bodies and donor agencies to support ongoing recovery efforts. It reiterated its commitment to proactive emergency response and community protection.
