Group Demands Enugu Deputy Speaker Resign Over Alleged Certificate Forgery

A citizens’ group from Igbo-Etiti East has petitioned the Speaker of the Enugu State Assembly, demanding Deputy Speaker Ezenta Ezeani resign within seven days over claims of forging academic credentials. The petition alleges Ezeani sat the WASSCE in 2019 after two legislative terms and was withdrawn from Enugu State University for presenting a fake certificate. It also questions the qualifications he relied on in the 2015 and 2019 elections. The group has threatened to urge a suspension if the ultimatum is ignored, paving the way for an independent probe. A separate complaint has been forwarded to the Nigeria Police for possible criminal investigation. There has been no official response yet.
