EFCC Arrests Maiduguri Woman for Cleaning Nose Mucus with N500 Note

EFCC Arrests Maiduguri Woman for Cleaning Nose Mucus with N500 Note

The Maiduguri Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested a woman for alleged mutilation of Naira notes. Fatima Muhammed was arrested on April 7, 2025, after a video on TikTok showed her using a N500 note to clean mucus from her nose. EFCC operatives traced her location in Maiduguri and took her into custody. She is under investigation at the local detention facility and will face charges when the probe is complete.

What do you think of the EFCC arresting a Maiduguri woman for cleaning her nose with a N500 note? Was it necessary?

They really went overboard on this arrest. Plenty bigger corruption cases deserve EFCC's attention.

Seems overkill to drag EFCC into a nose tissue matter. They got bigger fish to fry, no?

The EFCC must have ignored bigger fraud cases to focus on this minor note mutilation incident. Seems like questionable priorities.

Isn't it a bit extreme to make an arrest over a brief nose-cleaning video? Enforcement should consider intention and harm.

Handle cash responsibly: always wash your hands before touching money and use tissues for personal hygiene instead of banknotes to protect health and currency.
