IkuuBoy Wins OAU Students’ Union Presidency with 9,112 Votes

Obafemi Awolowo University Students’ Union has concluded its 2026 Central Executive Council election, with Kujembola Olalekan, popularly known as IkuuBoy, elected president. The Students’ Union Independent Electoral Commission said IkuuBoy polled 9,112 votes, defeating Lateef Akeem Omotayo, who received 4,846 votes. Fatokun Matthew Babafemi, who withdrew on the eve of the election, received 28 votes. Oluwagbemiro Elizabeth was elected vice president with 9,838 votes. Other elected officers include Arogundade Abduroheem as secretary-general, Akande Faith Oluwafunmilayo as assistant secretary-general, Oluwagbami Isaac as PRO, and Adeola Afolabi Enoch as director of socials and culture. The commission said only results submitted by designated electoral officers were recognised as official. The election was also marked by reported confrontations at some polling units and allegations that campus journalists were harassed or restricted during vote counting. The Association of Campus Journalists, OAU, reportedly withdrew its live coverage before the process ended.
