EU and Mercy Corps Empower Katsina Stakeholders with Peace-Building Training
The Katsina State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening institutions and promoting sustainable peace through targeted capacity-building programmes. Under the EU-funded Conflict Prevention, Crisis Response and Resilience Programme and in collaboration with Mercy Corps, stakeholders completed a two-day training on Interest-Based Negotiation and Mediation. Participants included members of the CPCRR Steering Committee, High-Level Women Advocates and selected media practitioners. Designed to equip attendees with practical tools for dialogue facilitation, mediation and conflict prevention, the initiative aims to institutionalize these frameworks across Ministries, Departments and Agencies for long-term sustainability. It highlights the vital roles of women, youth, traditional leaders and the media in building community resilience. Dr Mustapha Shehu, Executive Secretary of the Katsina State Development Management Board, described the programme as a long-term investment in peace and governance. He emphasized that sustainable peace depends on trust, dialogue and strong institutions under Governor Dikko Radda’s leadership.
