Basketmouth Says He’d Be President If He’d Spent 27 Years in Fraud and Drug Dealing

Comedian Basketmouth said he could have been Nigeria’s president if he had invested his 27-year career in fraud or drug trafficking. He joked in a recent video that those years would have taken him to the top of politics, church business or evangelism. He imagined owning private jets and running a university as a “Daddy G.O.” His quip highlighted political and religious realities, from bandit attacks on military officers to some faith leaders living in luxury while backing President Tinubu’s administration. Basketmouth’s mention of narcotics also recalled Tinubu’s past US legal settlement in 1993, sparking fresh debate about politics and morality in Nigeria.

It's odd that he equates criminal activity with political success as if there were no other paths to power.

Rather than joking about corruption, we should focus on supporting transparency initiatives and voting for candidates with integrity.
