Ajiran Community Protests, Demands Investigation of Babajide Akinloye Over Prince Ademola’s Death
Residents of Ajiran in Lagos held a peaceful protest on July 18, calling on the Nigeria Police Force to probe Babajide Akinloye’s alleged role in the August 2024 killing of his brother, Prince Ademola Akinloye. The demonstrators marched through the community with placards and slogans demanding justice. They cited claims by an activist that Babajide was the last person to contact the late prince and allegedly summoned him to the palace, where he was attacked. Protesters also raised concerns that Babajide secured his brother’s body release without an autopsy and later applied for the deceased’s mobile phone from police, hindering the investigation. They noted that farmland once operated by Prince Ademola was sold two months after his death. In addition, they urged authorities to release Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi, whom they say is innocent and tied to a related land dispute. No official response has come from the police or the individuals named.
