NDC Zones 2027 Ticket to South, Clears Way for Peter Obi’s Bid
The NDC has zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to southern Nigeria for a single four-year term. Delegates approved the motion at the party’s national convention in Abuja. National Chairman Moses Cleopas said this power-sharing move will see the ticket return to the North in 2031. The resolution also ratified new members of the National Working Committee. The decision opens the path for former Anambra governor Peter Obi and other southern aspirants to purchase nomination forms. It follows the official entry of Obi and former Kano governor Rabiu Kwankwaso into the party. Obi and Kwankwaso called on members to unite and rebuild Nigeria. Both leaders pledged to work for free, fair, and credible elections in 2027.
