Troops Restore Peace in Jos After Deadly Palm Sunday Attacks
By Kingsley Chukwuka Calm has returned to Jos, Plateau State, after the recent Palm Sunday killings that shook the city. A state-imposed curfew had dampened Easter activities until security forces moved in. Major General Folusho Oyinlola led Operation ENDURING PEACE, deploying soldiers to hotspots and showing force to deter further violence. Reinforcements approved by the Army Chief boosted the operation, enabling raids on camps and arrests of suspects linked to the massacre. Soldiers recovered weapons and ammunition, including AK-47 rifles, along with motorcycles and fuel meant for attacks. Seven key suspects were arrested, one for impersonating a soldier. With the enhanced security presence, the government has relaxed the curfew from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and residents are resuming daily life under continued military vigilance.
