Lagos Police Arrest Six Liberians Over Human Trafficking and Visa Scam
Six Liberians, including one woman and five men aged 21 to 40, have been arrested in Lagos over alleged human trafficking, abduction and a visa scam linked to fake relocation promises to Canada and the UK. Police said the suspects were picked up in Gberigbe, Ikorodu, after reports that the syndicate lured victims from Liberia to Nigeria, seized their passports and travel documents, and kept them in a rented apartment while pressuring them to recruit more people. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation. Police say efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the syndicate before the suspects are charged to court.
