Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface has backed Xabi Alonso to transform Chelsea’s playing style. In a social media reply, Boniface wrote in Pidgin: “You go enjoy better football; no worries. He too sabi.” Alonso managed Real Madrid for 34 matches after leaving Leverkusen, where he led the team to an unbeaten Bundesliga title in 2023/24. He has signed a four-year deal to take charge at Stamford Bridge from July 1, 2026. Boniface thrived under Alonso during their two seasons together in Germany, scoring 32 goals and providing 10 assists in 61 appearances. He later spent the 2025/26 season on loan at Werder Bremen before a knee injury in January cut his campaign short.
