Norway’s Football Federation Calls for FIFA President Infantino to Resign
The Norwegian Football Federation has become the first national association to call publicly for FIFA President Gianni Infantino to resign. NFF President Lise Klaveness said the federation had lost confidence in Infantino’s ability to lead world football. The decision followed internal discussions by Norway’s football governing bodies. The dispute follows FIFA’s withdrawn proposal to sell commercial stakes in the World Cup and other major competitions to private investors through a new entity. Klaveness said the current crisis had left Infantino without the institutional trust needed to continue in office. Infantino has led FIFA since 2016. Norway’s demand could encourage other member associations unhappy with FIFA’s recent governance decisions to take a similar position.
