NDLEA Cannot Confirm if Ajetsibo Emami Paid ₦50m Fine or Remains in Custody
The NDLEA says it cannot independently confirm whether Ajetsibo Emami, also known as Warri Kinsman, paid the ₦50 million fine attached to his drug conviction or is still serving his prison sentence. Emami was arrested in Ikeja, Lagos, on June 28, 2025, after officers reportedly recovered 414.2kg of cannabis during an intelligence-led operation. He was convicted by the Federal High Court in Lagos on August 18, 2025, and sentenced to six years in prison with an option of a ₦50 million fine. The agency's call centre said it has no verified information on whether the fine was paid, whether Emami was released, or the status of the seized exhibits. It also said claims of preferential treatment linked to family or political connections remain unverified. The NDLEA advised that further enquiries should be directed to its legal and operational departments or the Federal High Court registry.
