Donald Duke Questions Nigeria’s Ability to Fund Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway
Former Cross River State governor Donald Duke has criticised the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, arguing that Nigeria cannot currently afford the project. He said an existing road already connects Lagos and Calabar and should be repaired instead. According to him, the funds could be directed towards electricity supply and improvements to the healthcare system. Duke also questioned whether the project would progress beyond Epe, as Nigerians continue to debate government spending priorities amid the economic hardship caused by the removal of petrol subsidy.
