Building Stronger WDCs: Ogun State Partners Push for Improved Primary Health Care
On 7 July 2026, the Ogun State Ward Development Committee met with the Justice Development and Peace Commission, civil society groups, and the State Primary Health Care Board at SS Peter and Paul Cathedral in Abeokuta. The aim was to boost community participation and strengthen primary health care delivery at the grassroots level. Speakers, including the JDPC Deputy Director and health board officers, highlighted the key roles of WDC chairs and the need for closer collaboration with health facility Officers-in-Charge. The session focused on accurate data collection, effective outreach, and feedback mechanisms to drive better health outcomes. Attendees agreed on strategies such as distributing handbills, leveraging Community Development Association and Area Community Development Committee meetings, organising town halls, and sharing community testimonials. They also endorsed a framework for ongoing dialogue between WDCs and health officers to guide future awareness initiatives. The engagement reaffirmed the commitment of all stakeholders to work together in promoting healthier communities and expanding access to quality primary health care services across Ogun State.
