I argue that everyone plays games in life. A game has an objective, rules, prizes and consequences. I share how I treated my university degree like a game, balancing continuous assessment and exams to secure a good result. Seeing relationships as games helps explain why pick-up lines often fail. They are an effect of genuine connection, not its cause. Lines crammed from books feel awkward when your mindset doesn’t match the words. True flirting starts with understanding people. Be vulnerable and learn someone’s likes and dislikes before you try to impress them. That way your words will ring true, and you’ll build a real connection.
