Court of Appeal Halts Adeleke’s Move to Remove Ikirun Monarch
The Court of Appeal in Akure has ordered Governor Ademola Adeleke to maintain the status quo over the Akirun of Ikirun stool pending the outcome of an appeal. In a ruling by Justice S. O. Nwaka Gbagi, the court barred any action against Oba Olalekan Akadiri’s position. This follows white papers issued by the state government and committees reviewing Adeleke’s executive orders from November 2022. Oba Akadiri’s counsel, N. O. Oke SAN, told the court that Chief Kareem Adetoyese, chairman of the kingmakers, had written to the Gboleru Ruling House to present candidates for the throne. The appeal is still before the court.
