FirstPower Urges Joint Effort to Strengthen Electricity Supply in Anambra
FirstPower Electricity Distribution Company called on consumers in Anambra State to deepen collaboration with the company. The appeal came during its Annual Customer Engagement Programme in Awka, where stakeholders met to address erratic power supply. Managing Director Okechukwu Okafor acknowledged a drop to just 45% of Anambra’s usual allocation between November and December. He blamed broader sector shortfalls, funding gaps and global fuel price hikes. Okafor stressed that Discos rely on customer payments to fund transmission, generation and gas supply. Head of HSE Tosin Fadairo warned against encroachment on powerline corridors, citing risks of shocks and service disruptions. Technical Head Okwudili Udechukwu decried vandalism and unauthorised tampering with installations. Both urged residents to report violations and protect infrastructure. FirstPower called for calm, open dialogue and mutual understanding. The company assured customers that continuous engagement and responsible energy use will drive gradual improvements in service delivery across Anambra State.
