Soldiers Reject Order to Deploy ‘Repentant’ Boko Haram Fighters on Frontlines

Soldiers in Borno State say they were ordered to work alongside former Boko Haram members recently reintegrated through the state’s deradicalisation programme. They fear renewed sabotage and intelligence leaks. Some repentant fighters have been attached to local security groups supporting military operations. Troops say trust remains low after past incidents where operations were compromised. They argue the government should focus on better equipment, intelligence and welfare for troops risking their lives. I believe sending ex-insurgents to guard members of the public is madness. If anyone should use them, let it be Aso Rock or political elites.
