Atiku Alleges External Backing for Rival ADC Chairman
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar says vested interests are fuelling the crisis in the African Democratic Congress. In a DW Hausa interview, he claimed the party’s growing support has attracted outside interference. Atiku pointed to the security detail, official vehicles and a residence provided to a factional ADC chairman as proof of external backing. He insisted Nigerians remain loyal and are still joining the party despite the turmoil. The dispute deepened when INEC removed David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from its register based on a Court of Appeal ruling. Factional leader Nafiu Bala has since taken legal action to challenge Mark’s leadership, and INEC now awaits the appeal court’s decision.
