Kogi Security Forces Rescue 16 Kidnap Victims After Gun Battle; Operative Killed

Security forces have rescued 16 people who were abducted along the Ojuwo-Ajengo-Memarebo and Ojiwo-Itobe roads in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State. The victims, abducted on Saturday, included six men, six women and four children. Troops from the 21 Battalion and Nigerian Navy Ship Lugard worked with police officers, vigilantes and Hybrid Forces after intelligence placed the kidnappers near Adumu community in Dekina LGA. The joint team engaged the suspected kidnappers in a gun battle, forcing them to abandon the captives and flee. A Hybrid Force operative was killed during the operation, while a police officer was injured. The rescued victims were taken to safety and handed over to police in Ajaokuta for further assistance.
