Appeal to President Trump: Enforce Sanctions for Free and Fair 2027 Nigerian Elections

We urge President Donald Trump to leverage US political and economic sanctions ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 elections. In 2014, strong international support helped dethrone an incumbent for the first time in our history. We call for targeted measures against officials responsible for election management if they facilitate rigging. This includes the President of Nigeria, INEC chair and state REC members, the police, armed forces, and the judiciary. Those found complicit should face international terror listings, a five-year no-fly ban, and global arrest notices from the US, EU, and Commonwealth.
