Youth Party Sets April 25, 2026 for National Convention and Launches Membership Reforms

The Youth Party has scheduled its National Convention for April 25, 2026. This move aims to strengthen internal democracy and lay the groundwork for the 2027 general elections. All members, new and existing, must revalidate their status using a valid National Identification Number (NIN). Ward, local government and state congresses will take place on April 4, April 11 and April 18, 2026, respectively, ahead of the final convention. Primaries will follow a One Member, One Vote model with electronic voting and INEC monitoring to ensure transparency. Nomination forms went on sale in March and close in late May, with a structured screening and appeal process to follow.
