Ebonyi Elders Ask Contractors to Speed Up Flyover, Housing and Trade Centre Projects
The Ebonyi State Council of Elders has asked contractors handling government projects to speed up work while maintaining approved engineering standards and contract specifications. The council made the call after inspecting key projects, including the VANCO Flyover and Tunnel in Abakaliki, the Nwezenyi Flyover in Izzi LGA, the Aeronautics and Aerospace Engineering University in Onueke, the Senator Chris Nwankwo Housing Estate, and the Ebonyi International Trade Centre. Council Chairman Chief Ben Okah commended Governor Francis Nwifuru and said the projects could improve transport, urban development and economic activity when completed. Works Commissioner Lebechi Mbam said the VANCO project was progressing according to engineering procedures and urged residents to remain patient. The state also said indigenous contractors were being used on several projects to support local businesses, while the Council of Elders pledged to continue monitoring delivery timelines and quality.
