Nigeria Must Put Education at the Centre of Its AI Strategy, Mogaji Says

Technology entrepreneur David Mogaji says education must be the foundation of Nigeria’s artificial intelligence strategy, rather than just another sector within it. He made the case at a National AI Trust stakeholder workshop in Abuja. Mogaji said Nigeria needs two forms of AI education: advanced training for engineers, data specialists and researchers who build and maintain AI systems, and practical literacy for ordinary users. He said farmers, nurses, traders and teachers must understand and trust AI tools if such solutions are to work. He added that the National AI Trust should go beyond regulation by helping Nigeria build the human capacity to develop, assess and use AI responsibly. According to him, inclusive AI adoption must reach people outside major technology hubs such as Lagos and Abuja.
