Does ‘TEMU’ Mean Anything in Your Local Language?

Does ‘TEMU’ Mean Anything in Your Local Language?

I keep seeing ads for the e-commerce platform TEMU on social media and apps. In Edo, TEMU means “raise” or “elevate.” Whenever I see the name, I jokingly ask myself, “vba Temu na?” (“what are we raising?”). 😁 The word feels African to me. I’m curious if TEMU has a meaning in your language too. What does it mean where you come from?

Good question—I've encountered TEMU in local songs, though its exact meaning seems unclear in our dialect.

It doesn't ring any bells in my tongue—sounds more like a modern brand, not a traditional word.

It seems TEMU might just be a catchy brand name without any true connection to local languages beyond coincidence.

You could check with local dialect experts or consult community elders before assuming TEMU holds any traditional meaning.
