EFCC Says It Had No Basis to Freeze Ekiti Government Accounts
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it did not freeze Ekiti State Government accounts during the governorship election because it had no incriminating information against the state. EFCC spokesperson Wilson Uwujaren said the commission acted against Osun State accounts based on information available to it and rejected claims that the move was politically motivated. He added that the agency previously restricted Edo State Government accounts after detecting transfers to suspicious accounts, an action he said preserved about ₦12 billion.
