KZN Premier Warns Landlords: Rent to Undocumented Immigrants and Face Arrest
The KwaZulu-Natal government has warned that landlords could be arrested for housing undocumented foreign nationals. Premier Thami Ntuli made the announcement at a crime-fighting community imbizo in Mzingazi. Traditional leaders said unrented cottages often shelter criminals who go unaccounted for when crimes occur. Landlords are now required to verify tenants’ IDs before renting. Residents have been urged to report any landlord or tenant flouting immigration laws so police can take action.
