Unfair Eviction After Major Renovations – Seeking Advice

I paid ₦2.7 million on December 20, 2025, including a ₦700 thousand agent fee, and was asked to wait until January 1 to move in. On that date, I moved into my one-room apartment. A company sub-lessor had originally used the building for its office. Just yesterday, I received a non-renewal notice. The company says it wants to convert the property back into office space. Before I moved in, they even left some desks in my unit. I’ve made extensive renovations: replaced windows and doors, installed burglar bars, added an insect-proof extension, laid German flooring, painted and more. This situation has caused me severe anxiety and depression. I need guidance on how to protect my investment and challenge this eviction.

It seems unusual they served eviction right after you completed such a large renovation and paid the full amount just before moving in.

You might want to double-check if that agent fee is ever recoverable, since agents often keep fees regardless of eviction.

Document everything, request formal written eviction notice, and consider reaching out to a tenants' rights group for guidance.
