Gbajabiamila Disowns Council but Budget Lists N1.3bn for Foreign Intervention Body
On June 11, Femi Gbajabiamila disowned Adeniyi Adeyemi’s appointment as head of the so-called Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council. He said the office doesn’t exist under President Tinubu. He urged foreign missions, development organisations and the public to disregard any link between the council and the presidency. At a press conference in Abuja, Adeyemi rejected that claim. He pointed to Central Bank accounts, office space at the federal secretariat and approval for over 300 staff from the Office of the Head of the Civil Service. A review of the 2026 Appropriation Act lists the council under the presidency with a N1,302,978,784 allocation. The breakdown includes N802,978,783 for personnel, N200,000,001 for overheads and N300,000,000 for capital projects.
