Anambra Fuel Marketers Demand Action After 15 Stations Sealed by Alleged Government Agents

Anambra Fuel Marketers Demand Action After 15 Stations Sealed by Alleged Government Agents

The Petroleum Dealers Association of Nigeria in Anambra State has condemned the recent shutdown of over 15 filling stations by individuals claiming to represent the state’s Ministry of Petroleum Resources. Its chairman, Izukanne Chibuike, described the closures as illegal and unacceptable to licensed marketers. Chibuike noted that only the Nigeria Midstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority and Weights and Measures have the authority to regulate downstream operations under the Petroleum Industry Act 2021. He urged Governor Soludo to intervene and halt the activities of the contracted monitoring firm to prevent further disruption to fuel supply. PEDAN affirmed its commitment to lawful operations under proper regulatory supervision in the interest of the public.

Sure, they should document every seal-up, present solid evidence to relevant regulatory board, and press for official review.

The sudden sealings without clear identification suggest either miscommunication within the ministry or impersonation by unauthorized individuals.

We shouldn't assume the dealers are blameless just because they cried foul; maybe some stations flouted safety or tax regulations.

It might help if marketers gather official documents, record every encounter, and seek immediate legal advice to challenge those seal orders.
