Ogbomosho Community Appeals to Tinubu Over Polytechnic Ayede Appointments
The Ogbomosho community has written to President Tinubu to challenge recent appointments at the Federal Polytechnic Ayede. They say the Education Minister’s directive to fill the roles of Rector, Registrar, and Bursar with candidates from Federal Polytechnic Ede ignores host-community interests and undermines fairness. The community argues that the intervention was made without due regard to local stakeholders, threatening economic and capacity-building benefits originally promised when the institution was sited in Ogbomosho. They are calling for a fact-finding committee on finances, a fresh selection exercise for principal officers, removal of certain council members, and a review of contracts awarded since 2022. Members also demand the completion of the institution’s permanent site and access roads to ensure promised local development. They want the President to intervene and safeguard their community’s interests in the federal institution.
