Chief Uzoamaka Anyah Installed as 11th Isama of Onicha-Olona
Onicha-Olona in Anioma, Delta State, celebrated the traditional installation of Chief Uzoamaka Anyah as the Isama of Onicha-Olona. The ceremony followed an overnight vigil of spiritual reflection, ancestral invocation and traditional rites. At daybreak, elders, titled chiefs, women and youths gathered as Chief Anyah, adorned with nzu, was carried shoulder-high by members of the Onotu, the community’s traditional youth and defence assembly. The procession signified his acceptance of the responsibilities attached to the office. Chief Anyah, from Idumu-Iyi in Ogbe-Obi Village, succeeds the late Isama Eziamala of Idumu-Ogbele. As the 11th Isama and one of the community’s premier war chiefs, he is expected to support peace, community defence and the preservation of Onicha-Olona’s cultural heritage.
