Kwankwaso Dismisses North-North Ticket, Rules Out Atiku as 2027 Running Mate
Rabiu Kwankwaso’s camp has rejected the idea of a North-North ticket ahead of the 2027 presidential election. His spokesperson explained that pairing only Northern candidates would harm national unity and democracy. Speaking in an exclusive interview with a national newspaper, the spokesperson stressed that Nigerians expect a balanced ticket reflecting both North and South. He warned that a same-region or same-religion pairing would divide the country and undermine voters’ confidence. The spokesperson also disputed claims that Kwankwaso’s influence is limited to Kano state. Citing election figures, he noted that Kwankwaso secured over 500,000 votes outside his home state in 2023 — despite running on a new platform without major party backing. He argued this performance demonstrates Kwankwaso’s broad appeal and capacity to deliver votes nationwide.
