Cross River APC NASS Aspirants Slam Shoddy Primaries, Demand Fair Process
Several APC members seeking reelection to the National Assembly in Cross River have described last Saturday’s primaries as a charade. They say the exercise violated both the 2026 Electoral Act and the party constitution. Godwin Offiono of the Ogoja/Yala federal constituency lamented he was unable to vote or even see electoral materials at his ward. He insists he remains in the race and appeals to the governor to uphold due process. Emil Inyang of Akamkpa/Biase federal constituency warns that the flawed primary could hurt the party’s fortunes in the 2027 general elections. In some wards, party members say they received only a text directing them to assemble, with no electoral officers or information provided.
