Ndume: Atiku, Obi and Amaechi Have No New Ideas, But I Won’t Write Them Off

Senator Ali Ndume says he is confident the All Progressives Congress will retain the presidency in 2027. He argues that the opposition trio—Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and Rotimi Amaechi—has yet to offer any fresh policy proposals. Speaking on a national TV programme, Ndume warned against underestimating opponents, recalling how the PDP once dismissed the APC. He stressed that a strong opposition is vital for democracy even if it has not yet found its footing. Asked about President Tinubu’s prospects, Ndume said voters will decide but noted that insecurity and welfare remain the administration’s biggest challenges. He believes progress in these areas could restore public support. He also highlighted the African Democratic Congress as an emerging coalition platform for several opposition figures aiming at 2027, but maintained that no rival currently presents a serious threat.
