Suspected Boko Haram Spy Arrested in Borno Over Cross Kauwa Attack and Kidnappings

Suspected Boko Haram Spy Arrested in Borno Over Cross Kauwa Attack and Kidnappings

Security operatives have arrested a suspected Boko Haram intelligence operative, identified as Abulfatahi, in Monguno, Borno State, over the recent attack on Cross Kauwa and alleged kidnappings in the area. The arrest reportedly followed an intelligence-led operation targeting a terrorist network. Two other suspected members of the network had earlier been arrested and transferred to the Joint Intelligence Fusion Centre for investigation. During preliminary questioning, the suspect allegedly said he worked for a Boko Haram commander known as Akilu. He is accused of collecting taxes for the group and helping to identify people for abduction around Monguno. Investigators reportedly recovered two phone numbers believed to be linked to the commander as inquiries continue.
