A staff member of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) has died after reportedly suffering an electric shock while repairing a fault on a power pole in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State. The incident occurred on Saturday, August 1, 2026, opposite the Federal Polytechnic Satellite Campus. He was reportedly working to restore electricity to the area after a disruption when he became weak and disoriented on the pole. Residents and passers-by raised the alarm as colleagues and operatives of the Ekiti State Fire and Emergency Service brought him down. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was later confirmed dead.
