Presidency Rejects Obi’s ‘Gun to My Head’ One-Term Pledge
The Presidency has dismissed Peter Obi’s promise to serve only one term as president. In a clip set to air on News Central TV, Obi vowed not to stay beyond four years “even with a gun to my head.” Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, argued that Obi’s record shows a pattern of broken loyalty. He pointed out Obi’s defection from APGA to the PDP and subsequent moves across parties. Onanuga said such shifts undermine the credibility of Obi’s pledges. Obi was the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate and finished third. He has since joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 election.
