Ekiti State Police have imposed a total ban on vehicular movement across the state on Saturday, governorship election day. The restriction runs from midnight to 6:00 p.m. and covers private and commercial vehicles, trucks, tricycles and motorcycles. Students sitting national exams, INEC officials, ad-hoc staff, journalists, election observers, medical personnel and emergency responders are exempt when they present valid IDs. Travellers passing through the state are urged to plan alternative routes. VIP convoys, vigilante and quasi-security groups are barred from providing security during the poll. Road construction companies have been asked to suspend active works for the duration of the election. The Police Commissioner has assured residents of robust security measures and encouraged all registered voters to cast their ballots peacefully and report suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.
